  • This course provides students not only a broad overview of documentary methods but also an opportunity to create your own documentary work. Over the course of this semester, we will focus on the technical aspects of documentary storytelling as well as broader historical and ethical concerns that guide our storytelling. By the end of this course, students will learn how to: learn the basic principles of successful documentary production, including ideating original documentary work, gaining literacy in technical skills, and proficiency in Adobe editing software, gain a greater awareness of the historical context of documentary practice through analysis and reflection upon the work of various documentarians, cultivate an ethical framework for their documentary practice, and create their own original documentary projects.
